Ibadan is the capital and most populous city of Oyo State, in Nigeria. Ibadan is home to the first tallest building in Africa which is the cocoa house, built in 1952, and the first stadium in Nigeria, The Obafemi Awolowo Stadium originally known as Liberty Stadium which was opened in 1960.
It is the country's largest city by geographical area and the third-largest city by population in Nigeria after Lagos and Kano, with a total population of over 3.6 million as of 2021, and over 6 million people within its metropolitan area. Ibadan is located in southwestern Nigeria, 128 kilometers (80 mi) inland northeast of Lagos and 530 kilometers (330 mi) southwest of Abuja, the federal capital.
